Our practice is no longer providing private travel vaccines to our patients (or temporary visitors to the area). However, we continue to offer appointments for travel vaccine advice and will also provide the free NHS travel vaccines.
Which Travel Vaccines are Free?
The following travel vaccines are available free on the NHS:
- polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
- typhoid
- hepatitis A
- cholera
These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.
Which Travel Vaccines will I Have to Pay for?
Our Practice does not provide the following vaccinations:
- hepatitis B
- Japanese encephalitis
- meningitis vaccines
- rabies
- tick-borne encephalitis
- tuberculosis (TB)
- yellow fever
You will need to visit a pharmacy and pay for these vaccines.
Yellow fever vaccines are only available from designated centres. Patients should also speak to these providers regarding all other private vaccine requirements.
Travel Assessment Form
If you are travelling abroad please make sure you contact us at least six weeks before you travel, to arrange any vaccinations that may be necessary. To help the Travel Nurses assess your travel needs it is important that they are in receipt of the assessment form before your appointment.
We cannot guarantee an appointment for patients requiring vaccines at short notice.
